Biotechnology and Biomedicine Centre

BIOCEV is a joint project of six institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences and two faculties of the Charles University in Prague. It is aimed at establishing a centre of excellence in science in the fields of biotechnology and biomedicine. Special focus is given to the research programme and application of unique technologies in the centralized open-access laboratories. BIOCEV will also become a part of the pan-European research infrastructure (Infrafrontier and EuroBioImaging).  The centre will employ around 600 people. The Biocev’s managers also plan to involve renowned scientists including Nobel Prize winners in the research projects.

The total floor area of the centre will be approx. 25.5 thousand square metres.

The most part of the project is funded from the European Regional Development Fund (via the Operational Programme “Research and Development for Innovations”).  Author of the architectural design and the Architect responsible for the overall design has become CENTROPROJEKT GROUP a.s., member of the Czech Association of Consulting Engineers (CACE) and well-established engineering company based in Zlín and celebrating 90th foundation anniversary in 2015.
